Hello dear Steemians,

After having a long rest from using pastel for my works, I thought to go back to portrait using my favorite medium.

Why I like working on this work: I had an opportunity to work on skin tones to shape the form of neck and upper body, my favorite parts of the portrait are eyes, I love to create color of Iris, to shape eyelids and shadows of cheekbones. I find the position of face in ¾ turn is the best for portrait works, you may have noticed form my previous works too.

I spend last 3 days on working on this portrait and I hope you like the result like me.

Pastel portrait „Stranger“ by @Stef1

Sketch block A4 format, soft pastel sticks and pencils

Portrait was always my favorite topic and many years ago when I tried my first few I was very disappointed and thought that drawing is s talent that you are born with. On and off I was returning to that and trying doing portrait, of course with pencils initially and since I joined Steem that gave me an opportunity to share with you, my friends. I have learnt many different Artists and see what they do and how, I learn from them and also I am trying to be better and work harder on my drawings and paintings. Just because I love doing that and I am glad that it is a hobby where I find relaxation and joy.

As everywhere, in any field of work, many of us can reach good result, that reminds me again the quote:

“Übung macht den Meister” or in English “Practice makes perfect”

I look back at my previous works and compare with recent ones that makes me happy to see the difference, do you agree with that?

Therefore if you also love drawing or painting but still hesitating , do not loose time just try and be consistent, exercise regular and you will be rewarded for your hard work.
